New on the coatings market is Polyglass Zipcoat from Corrocoat, a high build, flake glass-filled polyester coating that claims fast cure times, long pot life and ease of application combined with excellent cosmetic appearance.
Zipcoat is the latest addition to Corrocoat's extensive range of coatings, and is aimed at the volume market, providing, it is believed, a high performance solution for immersed and non-immersed applications including ships' hulls, decking, superstructures and structural steelwork.
The coating is reported to combine high mechanical strength and robust performance with extremely low solvent emissions, guaranteeing reduced environmental impact in line with developing legislation in this area.
Developed for single-coat application, it may be spray applied using either plural component or standard aimless spray equipment. The coating is also said to exhibit good hand application characteristics.
According to the manufacturers, applied at ambient temperatures of 20°C, the material may be put into service within two and a half hours of application.
Corrocoat also informs us that when spray applied, Zipcoat guarantees excellent edge coverage, reducing the need for stripe coating.
Additional benefits claimed include good UV resistance plus all the advantages of extended maintenance intervals and favourable life cycle costs.
