Motors' accreditation underlines traceability, reliability and safety
Precision drive specialist maxon motor has underlined its products' suitability for medical applications by achieving the industry's stringent ISO 13485 quality standard (Figure 1).
Already the only major manufacturer to offer an “off-the-shelf” range of fully sterilisable drives and gearheads, the “Maxon medical” business unit supplies high-precision microdrives for use in diagnostics, therapy, surgery, prosthetics, laboratory technology, dental technology and pharmaceuticals.
The units are commonly used in technology requiring high performance and absolute reliability in a very small space, including infusion pumps, endoscopes and dialysis machines, as well as new-generation hand tools for bone surgery and dentistry.
The new ISO accreditation confirms Maxon's reputation for safety and dependability in critical applications, and ensures all procedures are fully documented to guarantee traceability.
