Rapid Manufacturing Research Group at Loughborough University

The Rapid Manufacturing Research Group (RMRG) within the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University is recognised as the world’s leading research group in the field of rapid manufacturing. The homepage describes the three areas of research areas: rapid manufacturing process and materials development, design for rapid manufacture, and management of rapid manufacturing.

The Research Project link contains information on current and completed projects. The web site also provides contact details on RMRG’s 40 academic, research, and support staff, as well as provides links to industry conferences, consortiums, and books.

This is the corporate web site for Morris Technologies, a comprehensive and collaborative product development company located in Ohio, USA. Their web site provides an overview of their capabilities which includes a specialization in complex parts.

The Rapid Prototyping link details seven technologies and processes: direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), stereo lithography, selective laser sintering, Swiss-style CNC machining, CNC machining, metal castings, rapid tool and injection molding, and urethane prototypes.

Also included on the web site are links on Rapid Manufacturing and their new company, Rapid Quality Manufacturing, that focuses solely on applying the benefits of DMLS to pre-production and production; short-run manufacturing; and design and development information for the medical and engineering markets.

The homepage is visually busy with many ads, but serves as a gateway to the web’s most valuable tool for rapid prototyping.
