Stratasys, Inc. has announced that it has maintained its market leader position in terms of units shipped within the rapid prototyping (RP) industry, according to the recently issued Wohlers Report 2006.

Published by Wohlers Associates, Inc. and released at the annual Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing Conference & Exposition in Chicago, the report offers a detailed review and analysis of the RP industry.

According to the report, Stratasys shipped 34 percent of all RP units worldwide in 2005 and 46 percent of all RP units shipped by US manufacturers in 2005. The report also states that as of the end of 2005, Stratasys has the highest global installed base of RP systems.

The report indicates that revenue generated from the sale of 3D printers grew by 35 percent to $100 million in 2005, versus $74 million in 2004. The report estimated that 15,000 3D printers could be sold annually by the year 2010, compared to 2,528 3D printers sold in 2005.

“We are pleased that our company maintained its leadership position within the RP industry during 2005,” said Scott Crump, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stratasys. “Our success is a result of the dedication and hard work of our employees and strategic partners. Looking forward, we believe Stratasys is positioned for strong growth in 2006. We are especially excited about our recent product introductions, as we maintain our commitment to helping our customers bring their new products to market.”
