Title: Method of producing rapid moulds which are used for plastics processing, and mould thus obtainedApplicants: Moldkar Teknolayer S.L. (ES); Mitxelena Fernandez Ibon (ES)Patent number: WO2005051627Publication date: 9 June 2005

Keywords: Patents, Rapid prototyping

The invention relates to a method of producing rapid moulds. The inventive method combines rapid prototyping techniques and precision plaster mould casting and makes use of aluminium or an aluminium matrix composite-type material having a low thermal expansion coefficient which provides greater dimensional precision during the production of the mould. The invention also imparts good abrasion resistance, thereby increasing the service life of the mould. According to the invention, the mould is produced from a prototype which is made from an inflammable material that is heated in a furnace using a thermal cycle which bakes the prototype and defines a hollow into which the aluminium or the aluminium matrix composite-type material is poured until the mould is obtained.

Title: Method and apparatus for synthesizing patternsApplicant: Gielis Johan (BE)Patent number: EP1531427Publication date: 18 May 2005

A method of synthesizing and/or analysing patterns with a computer comprises: programming a computer as part of a computer application for computer graphics, computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing, waveform generation, stereolithography, or rapid prototyping with a single formula that represents at least circles, triangles, squares and pentagons based on selected parameters within the formula, said formula being based on the polar coordinate equation for a circle or ellipse with rotational symmetries (m,Φ) introduced and with differentiation in generalized exponents (n) introduced; using the computer to synthesize and/or analyse a pattern based on said programming by selecting and/or determining values for parameters (m and n); and generating a physical output representative of said synthesized and/or analysed pattern.

Title: Shaping method by rapid prototyping and shaped articleApplicant: Hitachi Science Systems LtdPatent number: JP2005074931Publication date: 24 March 2005

Problem to be solved: to provide a method for obtaining a shaped article in which microholes are not shrunk or do not disappear by the conversion of three-dimensional CAD data when the microholes are shaped by rapid prototyping. Solution: the method for producing the shaped article comprises dividing the shaped article into a plurality of laminated parts using a three-dimensional CAD model, sequentially hardening the shaping materials of the divided laminated parts, and then stacking the laminated parts. The method is characterized by minimizing the shaping error not greater than a laminating thickness.

Title: Use of rapid prototyping techniques for the rapid production of laboratory or workplace automation processesApplicant: James DahleFrost (US)Patent number: US2005058573Publication date: 17 March 2005

A laboratory process may be automated with a rapid prototype machine used to produce devices for use in the laboratory. A computer aided design system in communication with said rapid prototype machine is used to generate data for the rapid prototype machine. The data enables the rapid prototype machine to produce devices, such as, for example, end effecters to be used in a robotic work station in a research lab.
