This is the website for the British Machine Vision Association (BMVA). The BMVA provides a national forum for individuals and organisations involved in machine vision, image processing, and pattern recognition in the United Kingdom. The BMVA is affiliated to the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).

This site is simple to use and contains details of machine vision applications. A good section on their conferences and symposiums. It also has details of career opportunities, bursaries and prizes too and links to machine vision research groups in the UK. The Scottish Chapter of the BMVA has its own section of the website containing details of all the Scottish activities. Overall a good place to find out what is going on in the machine vision area and a good resource for finding Universities involved in machine vision research.

IAPR is an international association of non-profit, scientific or professional organizations (being national, multi- national, or international in scope) concerned with pattern recognition, computer vision, and image processing in a broad sense. Their website contains much detail about their activities including technical committees, publications (Pattern Recognition Letters, Machine Vision and Applications and International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition) and worldwide conferences. Overall this is an appealing website containing interesting information. The links to related societies worldwide will be of great use to anyone involved in machine vision activities.

This American site contains lots of information for anyone who uses machine vision products in their work. A useful buyer's guide enables the reader to search for products within the machine vision field. A question and answer forum allows people to post specific questions and have experts answer them, this is usefully put into different classifications e.g. frame grabbers, cameras etc.An event calendar contains details of conferences. There are technical papers to download and tips for new users to read in the helpful user resources. Reports are available to purchase on the market trends in machine vision applications, results and forecasts for the future.

A useful site full of information well worth a visit for anyone from novices to experts interested in machine vision applications.

The UK Industrial Vision Association (UKIVA) is a trade association whose members supply goods or services for machine vision, or who carry out research in industrial applications sectors of the technology, or who provide training in the technology. The primary objective of the UK Industrial Vision Association is to promote the use of vision technology by manufacturing industry in the UK. A number of publications relating to vision technology and markets can be purchased on CD or downloaded for free in the form of a pdf document. A colourful and interesting newsletter is available with the latest news from the UK Industrial Vision Association.
