This invention relates to improvements in rotary valve actuators in which the valve member is moved between open and closed position by a reversible electric motor. The rotary valve actuator comprises a housing adapted to be mounted on the valve, a reversible electric motor mounted in the housing; a rotatable shaft connecting the motor to the valve stem to rotate the stem in opposite rotational directions responsive to operation of the motor; and a manual override system.
