Bosch Rexroth AG now launches a new version of the all-round identification and data storage system ID 40 offering even more versatility. Working on a non-contact basis, the most important feature of the identification system for automated assembly systems is the direct field bus connection to the read/write head (SLK). ID 40 may be used in installations with Profibus-DP, CANopen as well as Interbus-S (Plate 3).

The software version 2.0 now features new functions (Prefetch and Pretransmit), ensuring among others an even faster data exchange. These functions can be regarded as stored procedures which once initialized are automatically executed by the read/write head whenever any Mobile Data Tag (MDT) is passing by. This principle reduces both the work load on the master control and the bus traffic of the connected field bus system.

Due to the decentralized data recording, the Mobile Data Tag is characterized by short access times and high availability. The data storage is guaranteed for up to ten years, still allowing an unlimited number of read/write cycles. This is particularly important in case of applications having short cycle times. For storage of all product- and process-relevant data the data tag is available in 2kB and/or 8kB versions.
