Bremen again the meeting point of the actuator community in 2002
Sometimes they are extremely small – but nothing turns without them. They are to be found inside of computers, cars and robots, in medical apparatus and aeronautic applications: we are talking about actuators. Particularly in high-tech sectors, there is a steady increase in demand for high-precision, dynamic and system-capable miniaturised drives. Every two years, the international actuator community meets in Bremen: the event "ACTUATOR" has been established as the world's leading forum for innovative product ideas based on new actuators. High-tech actuators will again be the centre of attraction at the Bremen Fair Center from 10-12 June 2002.
With ACTUATOR 2002, MESSE BREMEN GMBH is continuing this successful event series. 400 conference participants and 43 exhibitors came to the Free Hanseatic City in 2000. Again, there will be two events running in parallel in 2002: a specialist conference and an exhibition. At the same time, the "2nd International Conference on Integrated Power Systems, CIPS 2002" will be held at the same venue. For the first time, the exhibition will be open for the topics of this parallel event and will also present products and services from the field of intelligent power. The Specialist Conferences
The "8th International Conference on New Actuators" is the world's leading scientific conference on new actuators, namely

piezoelectric and magnetostrictive devices,
- •
microactuators and shape memory actuators,
- •
actuators based on electro/ magnetorheological fluids,
- •
low-power electromagnetic actuators, and
- •
other actuation principles, e.g. polymer actuators
and their applications as single components or parts of microsystems in the fields of fine-/ precise- and nano-positioning, active vibration damping, microfluidics as well as other applications from the sectors of automobile manufacturing, automation, aerospace, medical technology and optics. New in the history of ACTUATOR is the inclusion of an additional session on "polymer actuators".
The "2nd International Conference on Integrated Power Systems, CIPS 2002", is organised by two institutions of the University of Bremen, the Microsystems Center Bremen (MCB) and the Bremen Center of Mechatronics (BCM), and by the Energy Technology Society (ETG) of VDE.
In the thematic focus of CIPS 2002, you will find

hybrid or monolithic integrated power electronic systems, especially "smart power" and "embedded power" solutions,
- •
power supplies and power electronic systems for standardised drives, and the
- •
integration of power electronics and actuators/drives into an overall mechatronic system
for applications in industrial automation, and especially in automobiles and home applications.
