Fortetion Ltd has signed a partnership agreement with Canadian software company Mountain Systems Inc. to add to its ability to offer manufacturers and systems integrators in the UK and Ireland the capability to develop complete "shop floor to top floor" industrial and business software solutions.

Fortetion, Intellution Inc.'s strategic partner for the UK and Ireland, will utilise Mountain Systems' expertise to add value to its business offerings. Andrew Ballard, managing director, Fortetion, said: "The agreement with Mountain Systems, along with our acquisition of Barton earlier last year, provides a strong platform from which we can develop a one-stop solution for all types of industry from the factory floor to a front end e-commerce site. This latest agreement means we are now able to offer an unrivalled range of products and services to deliver enterprise-wide integration of automation control and business systems."

Established to provide software solutions and consulting services to the process manufacturing industry in North America and Europe, Mountain Systems specialises in manufacturing execution systems (MES). Their client base already includes many of the UK's and Ireland's most prolific manufacturing companies such as Powergen, Bass Brewers and Unilever. The company operates out of a number of offices, including Green Bay, Chicago, Vancouver and London.

Mike Weas, director, Mountain Systems, commented: "Fortetion's acquisition of Barton Information Systems gave us the opportunity to work with a team of software engineers with many years' experience of developing OPC servers and components to satisfy customers' needs. Our agreement with them is a significant coup as we believe they are key to our future success in the UK and Ireland. Our product, 'Proficy for Manufacturing' heavily leverages the 'infrastructure' provided by the Intellution product suite. Fortetion's manufacturing experience combined with their solutions uniquely positions them to provide real value to their customers."

Fortetion is confident that it will be able to help the vast majority of industries throughout the UK and Ireland including food and beverage, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, metals and mining, water and waste and consumer packaged goods. The company anticipates opening offices in both Scotland and Ireland, in addition to its Manchester and Buckingham facilities, during 2001.
