Dassault Systemes has announced the creation of DELMIA, its new brand for e-manufacturing (see Figure 1). DELMIA becomes a premier digital manufacturing provider, offering customers comprehensive and integrated methodologies and solutions to fully address their digital manufacturing needs. Philippe Charlès will operate as DELMIA chief executive officer, reporting to Dominique Florack, executive vice president of Dassault Systemes, with headquarters in Troy, Michigan (USA).

DELMIA develops e-business solutions for manufacturing by implementing a process- centric solution to define, monitor and control production systems from single device work cell, production line, factory material flow to extended enterprise production flow. DELMIA will serve industry segments where continuous transformation and optimization of the manufacturing process are critical, such as automotive, aerospace, fabrication and assembly, electrical and electronic, consumer goods, plant and shipbuilding.

"`Build-to-order' is key in Renault's development strategy. The deployment of this strategy will require technologies and methods to increase the agility of our production system. This is why we are pleased with Dassault Systemes' commitment to e-manufacturing, through the creation of DELMIA", commented François Pistre, vice president for technical and scientific computing, Renault.

"DELMIA is ideally positioned in Dassault Systemes to leverage collaborative product commerce (CPC) business practices to implement product life cycle management (PLM)", added Bernard Charlès, president of Dassault Systemes. "It confirms Dassault Systemes as the right strategic partner for customers looking for digital manufacturing solutions and provides a complete integrated e-business solution with this new brand."

DELMIA has an open system, interoperable with major CAX, PDM and ERP systems. Integrated with ENOVIA, it provides a unique integrated manufacturing solution.
