Modular Industries has unveiled plans to create the UK's premier "onestop" automation centre, as two of its divisions prepare to join forces to meet demand for fully-integrated automation solutions.

Chief executive David Cockayne has confirmed that Modular Handling, the conveyor and gantry robot division, will merge with the group's assembly division to offer customers a centre of unrivalled automation services.

Modular Handling, with its Linkline and Pressflow handling systems, will be joining Modular Automation later this month, creating an automation centre served by over 100 engineers involved in the design, manufacture and assembly of special purpose automation equipment.

Significant demand from Modular Handling's customers for increased levels of automation in handling projects has been the key influence behind the "joint" strategy according to David Cockayne:

In the last two years, demand for downstream automation from our Linkline and Pressflow customers has increased and the lines between the two divisions are becoming increasingly blurred. The next logical step was to pool our resources and create an automation centre which will guarantee exceptional systems and customer service.

Our commitment to project management is well known, but I am now pooling a team of the industry's best project managers and automation engineers under one roof.

Adds David: "As a minimum, we shall continue to professionally deliver complex automation solutions on-time, within budget and to specification. Our new automation centre will be geared to exceed the expectations of customers who expect more from automation."
