A co-ordinated supply system which brings rivets for windscreen wipers to Trico's assembly trackside "just in time", has earned for Aylesbury Automation an enviable place as one of Trico's suppliers for the recently-launched new range of commercial vehicle windscreen wipers (see Plate 5).

Aylesbury Automation have supplied fastenings for several years to Trico and in a supplier agreement initiative, a Kan Ban system was set up and equations agreed between the two companies, providing direct benefits in increased efficiency and cost-saving.

"We believe we have constructed an ideal supply model for smaller companies to form a genuine win/win partnership with a premier automotive company," said Steve Hardeman, Director and General Manager of Fastener Division at Aylesbury Automation.

Trico e-mail to Aylesbury their schedules and parts required, triggering production for delivery 36 hours later. Trico benefit in reduced stockholding and cost savings while Aylesbury Automation can plan exactly supply of raw materials and manufacture.
