Durr awarded £80 million contract by Rover

The Durr Group, the world leader in paint finishing systems for the automotive industry, has been awarded a contract valued at £80 million for a new end of line finessing facility for Rover at its Oxford plant. This is Phase 2 of the Paint Shop project.

Durr Limited, a member of the Durr Group, were responsible for Phase 1, the recently completed £75 million paint shop at Rover Oxford. Durr Limited will also be responsible for Phase 2.

The implementation of the end of line finessing facility ensures that the increasing production volume can be maintained following the recent launch of the Rover 75.

The new end of line finessing facility is on two levels. Level one includes modifications to the repair line and the existing spot repair booth, a new spot repair booth, new sanding decks, two new denib booths each 45m long and a 23m long panel replacement deck. On the first floor is a 43m long repair preparation deck, a new spirit wipe and basecoat booth, an intercoat flash off and new clearcoat booth, new stoving oven and cleanroom to service the basecoat and clearcoat booths.
