Cutler-Hammer launches powerful new NetSolver PC-based industrial control software

Keywords: Software, Control, Simulation

Cutler-Hammer has extended its suite of open automation solutions with the launch of NetSolver soft-logic control software. NetSolver takes advantage of PC-based control technology to increase productivity through faster design of real-time control applications, reduced downtime and advanced diagnostics capabilities.

NetSolver's automatic diagnostics and simulation support provide manufacturers with savings in both cost and time. Its simulation capability enables code to be tested before the application is implemented, and users can employ a "wizard" to create diagnostic routines. In addition, because NetSolver has been designed using true 32-bit native code, it has the same "look and feel" of other Windows NT applications, reducing the time taken for operators to learn to use the package.

NetSolver uses INtime technology, from Intel, to provide real-time, deterministic control and guarantee a response within a specified time period. NetSolver maximises user control by executing beneath Windows NT, so control program determinism and health are not affected by the operating system, and the user never loses control - even if Windows NT crashes or the hard disk fails.

NetSolver enables the user to choose relay ladder logic or flow chart programming to implement the best solution for a particular application - giving greater flexibility and increased control. Users can easily add editors as required, using the program's open architecture - making information even easier to manage and use.

NetSolver integrates fully with Cutler-Hammer's suite of software products, including NetPoiNT Human Machine Interface and NetView DeviceNet configuration software for a total open automation software solution. Specialised Dynamic Link Library (DLL) interfaces provide seamless integration with NetPoiNT and with Cutler-Hammer's PanelMate PC operator interface, and NetSolver shares a common tag database with NetPoiNT, eliminating redundant tag configurations. NetSolver also supports the exchange of data with third-party Windows applications using dynamic data exchange (DDE), Fast DDE, and DLL interfaces.
