Micro-solenoid valves for when size matters

Micro-solenoid valves for when size matters

Keyword: Valves

A micro-solenoid valve which offers high response times, excellent repeatability and good chemical resistance, is the latest addition to the range of valves and actuators offered by process control specialists Alpha Controls (see Plate 4).

These 2/3 way valves, which measure just 12mm x 32mm, are ideal for control applications for scientific instrumentation, medical/diagnostic equipment, textile machines, ink-jet printers and other miniature processing apparatus.

The valves are designed for use with inert gases and liquids, up to operating pressures of 2 bar and they can handle media with operating temperatures between 0úC and +40úC. Response times are: (opening) 3 millisec (2 way), 5 millisec (3 way). Frequency is 150 cycles per second (std), while the life expectancy for the valves should be around 100 million cycles.

The valves have an internal volume of 0.06 cc, an orifice size of 0.8mm and will fit a pipe size diameter of 1.3mm x 5mm. They operate with a standard electrical power supply of 3.6, 6, 12, 24 V DC, with a power consumption of 150-450-900 milliwatts (depending on the application).

The valves are made from 316 stainless steel and are available with gaskets/seals in a choice of FKM, EPDM, NBR and silicon rubber.
