A unique pallet clamping system reduces M/C set-up times and allows higher axis speeds. CyTec's revolutionary CyTab pallet clamping system improves competitiveness by reducing set-up times on transfer equipment and individual machine tools with pallet changers. The CyTab system, with its unique self-locking mechanism, guarantees the highest clamping forces in the smallest space. The high input forces ensure optimum system rigidity, allowing manufacturers to reduce their pallet mass and increase their machining forces or axis feeds simultaneously (see Plate 3).

CyTab's modular design, and its ability to be integrated in any fitting position, ensure that, whether standard pallets or customised workpiece bearers are employed, then designs for pallet changing are both simplified and improved.

The unique construction of CyTab, with its holder flange and collet chuck, guarantees 100 per cent repeatability and positioning accuracy in pallet clamping operations. Moreover, as a safeguard during clamping operations, mating faces are cleaned by means of a special compressed air channel. Additional protection is supplied by special sealing covers which stop dirt from entering the pallet clamping system.

CyTab offers the advantage of integrating indexing and clamping in a single element. This means that no additional components are required and the likelihood of faults is reduced. In addition, high operational reliability is guaranteed because the system is self-locking and can only be uncoupled in the clamped position by the application of hydraulic force. As this arrangement removes the requirement for rotary transmission couplings, considerable cost savings result.
