Bosch Automation Technology has won contracts in excess of £l million for production line systems from Ford, Visteon Enfield, TRW, and Nortel.
Highlighting Bosch's flexible approach to manufacturing issues, the contracts range from turnkey systems to upgrading existing Bosch production lines to handle new products.
The company has revamped the speedometer PCB board line to accommodate a new generation model at Ford Enfield. Bosch QuickBuild and pick-and-place items are also being used.
For TRW, Bosch has installed process and handling system lines for crack detection, thread rolling washing machines and thread gauging. Eventually the lines will be integrated into the main assembly line, which will enable a reduction in manpower with a new ratio of 4:1.
Bosch has worked with a major automotive component manufacturer to retool/upgrade an existing assembly line to accommodate an alternative generation of turbocharger, incorporating the Bosch TS4 palletised conveyor system with high-capability tightening systems, pneumatics and electronic controls. In addition, Bosch has been asked to supply a new turnkey production and assembly line for a major automotive manufacturer also using the Bosch TS4, electronic tightening and press-fit systems, pneumatics as well as a state of the art vision system.
Nortel is expanding existing Bosch systems by utilising the Bosch TS 1 conveyor system, pneumatics and electronic controls to increase manufacture of their residential transceiver unit (RTU) used in the fired wireless access (FWA) digital telephone system for national/international domestic markets.
