Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), a leading supplier of software tools used to automate mechanical product development, has established an educational and strategic partnership with the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), with the assistance of Professor Kumar Bhattacharyya, Director of WMG. Based at the University of Warwick, WMG provides manufacturing management education and operates as a bridge between industry and academia. Since its founding in 1980, WMG has trained over 5,000 individuals in manufacturing management at its campus in the UK and at satellite centres throughout Asia, Europe and Africa.

Kumar Bhattacharyya, founder and director of WMG, said: "Parametric Technology has a powerful set of tools for designers. Our challenge is to work jointly to develop applications for aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding and general engineering. There are remarkable synergies between our two organisations", he added. "The strength of Warwick Manufacturing Group lies in our ability to harness advanced technologies and to turn them into competitive advantage. By teaming our global experience with PTC, the largest supplier of engineering software tools in the world, we expect our relationship to go from strength to strength."

The Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Centre at WMG is the largest of its type in Europe. Its key mission is to harness the power of advanced computer-aided engineering tools within the business environment by training design engineers to use software to create genuine value added. WMG has established successful relationships with companies such as British Aerospace, VSEL, and the Rover Group, among many others around the world.
