New high power system extends applications for ultrasonic plastics assembly

The first 40KHz ultrasonic plastics assembly system to offer 1,000 watts of power has been introduced by Dukane Ultrasonics. The increased power of the new system will allow use of ultrasonic technology for larger components that require the delicate handling afforded by the 40KHz frequency, the manufacturer states: "We expect the new Millennium 4100 to be of interest to anyone assembling parts where process control, internal damage, flash and stress cracking are problems", said Jeff Sherry, director of international sales for Dukane Ultrasonics. Industries making wide use of ultrasonic assembly for plastic parts include automotive, electronics and medical products.

The new system incorporates the company's dynamic process controller (DPC) to provide a full range of process controls including basic time-only, energy, distance, absolute distance, peak power, amplitude, pressure, velocity and force.

Standard features include:

  • Narrow (79mm) profile to allow close center-to-center distances in multihead and automated installations.

  • Heavy duty precision slide assembly with 16mm diameter steel rods and sealed Thomson ball bushings.

  • Dual pressure technology to increase clamp force to improve melt during the weld cycle or to provide tighter assembly during the hold cycle.

  • All controls accessible from the front for convenient setup and operation.

  • Compatibility with all the manufacturer's other current assembly system components.

  • Meets CE requirements.

  • Manufactured to ISO 9001 standards.

Dukane Ultrasonics has over 25 years experience as a manufacturer of ultrasonic assembly systems. Headquartered in St Charles, Illinois, USA, the company maintains a worldwide sales, distribution and service network. Dynamic Process Controller is a trademark of Dukane Ultrasonics.
