The conceptual framework of this analysis is based on the human rights perspective and the transitional justice. The main body of the article presents the testimonials of adults who grew up in institutional care in Romania, as collected in the framework of the SASCA project, funded by the European Union. 1




The data for this chapter are based on the project ‘Support to adult survivors of child abuse and neglect’ (SASCA, The project was funded by the European Commission, and coordinated by Artemisia Association. The project is based on a partnership in four countries: Italy, Greece, Ireland and Romania. The project is in line with its specific objectives to facilitate the effective access to justice for all victims of violence, including promotion and support, and compensation for the victims.
