I am extremely grateful to the seven contributors of Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8 for accepting my invitation to write their respective chapters. This book originated from the three papers on Denmark, New Zealand, and Singapore presented at the panel chaired by me at the Eighth Annual Conference of the Asian Studies Association of Hong Kong (ASAHK) in Hong Kong on March 8–9, 2013. I would like to thank Professor Sonny Lo, Head of the Department of Social Sciences at the Hong Kong Institute for Education and Chairman of the Eighth ASAHK Conference Organizing Committee for accepting my panel proposal; Michael Johnston, Robert Gregory, and Daniel Zirker for presenting their papers on Denmark and New Zealand; and Krishna K.
