Creating an X Window Terminal‐based Information Technology Center

Abstract

The last decade has seen a dramatic jump in the amount of online electronic resources available to library patrons. With this change has come the need for libraries to create environments for providing access to this text and graphical information. The experiences of the University of Oregon Science Library's Information Technology Center may help other academic libraries as they plan for, and customize, high‐end workstations to meet user needs. This paper explores how SLITC could aid in this.
