Jakarta will try harder to show toughness on graft

However, growing concern over graft in the country does not appear to have hit President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo’s popularity. Just days before that latest CPI came out, the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) released the results of an opinion poll indicating that public satisfaction with Jokowi stands at a record high.


  • Candidates vying to succeed Jokowi next year will be keen to secure his endorsement, recognising that this could provide a key edge.
  • Fears about increasing politicisation of the anti-corruption drive will endure.
  • Accountability for police graft will be increasingly under the spotlight.
