New Palestinian groups will test existing leadership

The killings follow the deaths of 17 people in a series of Palestinian attacks in Israel in March and April. The violence has triggered a change in the Palestinian political environment: the Palestinian Authority (PA) looks increasingly irrelevant as a new armed resistance surfaces.


  • International donors’ support for the PA will be vital to its continued existence.
  • The Palestinian question will attract greater support on the 'Arab street’ than among Arab governments.
  • The character of Israel’s new government may undermine relations with Abraham Accord states and Saudi Arabia.
