Arce looks well placed to navigate Bolivia challenges

The situation has given President Luis Arce’s government a valuable opportunity to deflect domestic and international criticism of its handling of relations with members of the previous administration. Six months on from taking office, the Arce administration appears to be finding its feet.


  • The Arce administration will adopt a pragmatic approach towards its opponents, seeking to engage them where possible.
  • The government will ride out criticisms of its treatment of Anez.
  • Improved relations with Washington will not lead to Murillo’s swift extradition.
