Spoilers will try to derail Libya DMZ talks

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) proposed the creation of the DMZ to de-escalate a tense military standoff over the city.


  • Both the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and France may fear a DMZ will help entrench Turkey in Libya.
  • Oil terminals will continue sporadically to shut and reopen, reflecting power struggles and negotiations.
