Recount challenge will prolong uncertainty in Guyana

This marks another twist in the country’s electoral saga, with elections delayed by over a year and then subject to a recount. It seems increasingly clear that President David Granger is unwilling to leave office despite the opposition’s apparent victory. Attempts to prolong the current administration risk increased civil unrest and deteriorating legal security.
