Significance
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s political support base is much weaker than at any time since he took power in 2002. The high cost of living, the unpopularity of his one-man-rule governance and above all the anti-coronavirus measures have all contributed. The pandemic has reversed the economic recovery and ramped up risks.
