Economy will preoccupy new Thai government

Outlook for Thailand's new government.


Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha last week unveiled a policy manifesto. Prayut, returned to power by a pro-junta alliance following the March general election, finalised a new cabinet earlier last month.


  • Major infrastructure projects will likely suffer delays due to slower budget disbursements.
  • A rising baht will hit Thai exports and tourism.
  • There will be an uptick in Thai-US relations under the new government.
