Sudan power-sharing deal may raise fears of false dawn

The agreement purportedly ends a divisive period of confrontation between the two groups, but its resilience may be tested in its implementation phases.


  • Both sides may refrain from further escalation over coming days.
  • Domestic stakeholders outside the TMC and DFC will demand a role in transitional institutions.
  • The African Union’s mediation role will encourage acceptance of the deal among major international stakeholders.
