Significance

ASEAN and US leaders held a landmark summit in California between February 15-16.

Impacts

As ASEAN chair, Laos will be cautious on maritime issues, to Beijing's appreciation.
There are unlikely to be new South-east Asian TPP members soon.
Vietnam-US ties will deepen with Obama's coming visit to Vietnam.
US pressure on Thailand to return to democracy will grow, and be a thorn in relations until then.
Washington will encourage Myanmar to resolve Rohingya controversies, but this could see Myanmar domestic instability.
