A profile of Nobel Prize winner Angus Deaton.
The 2015 Nobel Prize for economics has been awarded to Princeton's Professor Angus Deaton for advancing the understanding of consumption and inequality. Deaton's research shows the importance of a data-driven and granular approach to economic research, and blazes a trail for its implementation. He has shown that it is essential to take account of the variation in individual circumstances and consider disaggregated data in order to understand what drives consumer behaviour and economic development.
