In this frame, the European Aeronautics Science Network carried out in Warsaw, Poland, from 26 to 29 September 2017, the 7th EASN Conference. It has been proved so far it is most successful and comprehensive gathering.

The Conference was dedicated on Innovation in European Aeronautics Research, with nearly 300 participants from academia, research establishments and industry. It proved to be an excellent opportunity to obtain an overview of the recent advancements in the aeronautics research scene. The event included 11 ΚeyΝote Lectures and more than 250 technical presentations distributed in approximately 50 sessions; the participants had the chance to attend the presentations of more than 220 speakers from running or recently completed research projects with new upstream ideas for future research, thus accenting the Conference as a major European dissemination event for new knowledge and emerging technologies.

The present Special Issue of the International Journal of Structural Integrity includes a selection of papers presented at the Conference that are relevant to the subjects of this journal. They are representative of the high-scientific quality and technological merit of aeronautics research carried out in Europe.

Therefore, we would like to thank the authors for their valuable contributions as well as the reviewers for their effort and for their comments and suggestions.
