2nd International Conference on Airworthiness and Fatigue (ICAF-2014), Patras, Greece, 14-18 July 2014

The purpose of the ICAF series of conferences is to provide a global forum for researchers, engineers, manufacturers, and administrators from transport sector and research institutions to present their issues that are not only technical and managerial interactive but also affected by inter-cultural differences. The Patras meeting was the second in the series, the first meeting has taken place in Beijing, China (March 2013).

ICAF-2014 gathered papers from more than ten countries, with Greece and China being the main contributors. The papers presented covered the areas of fatigue crack growth in metallic components, damage tolerance of composite structures, structural joints, corrosion, nanocomposites, and self-healing materials.

Some of the work presented at the conference was selected for consideration by the International Journal of Structural Integrity. The papers were thoroughly peer-reviewed and revised before publication and are presented at the front of this issue.
