Abstract

Good information is essential for effective operation and decision making at all levels in businesses. Discusses the factors which condition managers′ use of information, viz. managers′ roles and tasks; decision‐making processes (strategic and operational); rational and alternative behaviour; cognitive style and perception; and “hidden agenda” factors such as the symbolic use of information and information as power. Supported by selected readings, and tables of information types, processes and uses.
