Firstsearch: collection management and academic libraries

Abstract

Looks at issues of database or file duplication between CD‐ROM and online services like Firstsearch, establishing card sales policies and procedures plus increased file usage. Demonstrates how librarians conducted a Firstsearch field test, advertised the Firstsearch Catalog, and balanced what was expressed as a choice between access to more than 20 databases and accepting a novice interface.
