Abstract

Discusses the London building regulations as applied to buildings which have a storey, or part of a storey at a greater height than 30m, and to buildings of the warehouse class or used for the purposes of trade or manufacture, exceeding 7100 cubic metres in extent. Briefly outlines the history of this legislation and describes the London Building Acts currently in force. Explains the ′Fire Safety Guide′ produced by the LDSA (London District Surveyor′s Association) to give guidance on the technical standards required by the Inner London Boroughs when dealing with applications for the erection of such buildings.
