Abstract

Discusses the use of Internal audits as an essential part of the ISO 9000 certification process. Asserts they can also be used as a tool to help empower employees to continuously improve both themselves and their work practices. Considers the audit procedures in one company and describes the steps taken in implementing a quality assurance system. Reports the view that the role of each and every employee is to be a quality manager. Concludes that the personality of the auditor plays an important role in the effectiveness of an audit. Problems can also not only be identified but solutions can be proposed and operators encouraged to think about how to do their job better.
