Abstract

The development and implementation of a production planning and scheduling model in tyre manufacturing is presented. The objective is to simplify planning and scheduling, which is typically complex in tyre manufacturing. The procedure is divided into three parts: (1) the original problem is transformed into independent subproblems by considering the machine‐product compatibility matrix; (2) the production lots for each subproblem are determined by formulating each subproblem as a one‐machine capacitated dynamic lot‐sizing problem; (3) a heuristic algorithm is developed to determine the production sequence for each job on each machine.
