Abstract

Nurses are more likely than most professionals to require the services of a counsellor at some time in their career. The impact of the many rigours of their job on their private lives and vice versa can give rise to exceptional stress, especially in young people. The counselling service, CHAT (Counselling, Help and Advice Together), which has been set up specifically for nurses, is described.
