Abstract

Two detailed taxonomies designed to help define the relationships between a city′s environment and the health of its citizens are described. The first taxonomy enumerates the indicators of sickness both in the built environment of a city and in its citizens that should be prevented, and the second taxonomy focuses on the health aspects of the built environment of the city and the physical, mental, social health of its citizens, which should be protected and promoted. The practical implementation of these indicators can become the basis for the creation of an urban health policy.
