Abstract

Examines the implications of an increasing rate of technological change for productivity improvement. Considers the adoption of new technology, the problem of obsolescence, ways of identifying relevant changes, technological scanning systems, and in‐house technology development services. Summarizes that technology must be harnessed in a positive manner through a formalized scanning and development process if the organization is to recognize the technological changes that can offer productivity improvement.
