AB  - Examines the progress being made in the search for electronic books
and the relevant criteria to make the concept work. States that the book
has faults ‐the static nature of the text and the passive nature of the
material – which the electronic book format can overcome, citing
developments in pocket Pcs, CD‐ROM, databases, hypertext, text retrieval
software, and multimedia. Concludes that when the right combination of
technologies is available, a likelihood in the 1990s, the electronic
book will become a reality.
