32
Abstract
The history, structure and functions of the Local Authorities Co‐ordinating Body on Trading Standards (LACOTS) are reviewed, and its future role with the EC and the expansion of its terms of reference are discussed. LACOTS is a functioning and successful body with wide expertise in local authority co‐ordination and well suited for a greater role in the administration of food controls, trading standards and environmental health in the wider community.
