Discusses lighting generally from the point of view of functional requirements, energy efficiency, and psychological and health effects. Concludes that light is an important factor in the wellbeing of building occupants and lack of it can have a deleterious effect on them. Therefore it is essential that light be made a prime consideration in building design.
