Abstract
Describes a project in which the construction of a new building was painstakingly monitored for the presence of hazardous materials. Considers the issue of quality control and the aim of creating as benign an environment as possible. Examines the close involvement of the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) in monitoring the project. Finally, looks at the range of management protocols suggested by the IOM.
