FMT aims to SATE demand for computer controls
Abstract
Discusses the small cell approach of one machine tool builder – FMT – and how this led to a modular product philosophy, allowing progressive cell evolution. Describes the functions of the FMT host computer system, the Scheduling and Transport Executor, in the categories of planning, production, and monitoring. Surmises that as a result of its philosophy FMT will be able to meet a growing demand for flexible interactions between multiple cells.
