Abstract

This article examines the way in which one of the largest local education authorities in the Country, Hampshire, is seeking to develop a comprehensive strategy for the use of Information Technology (IT) within the department. It looks at the underlying principles in the department′s IT systems′ strategies and the various organisational structures which have been created to co‐ordinate the development and use of computers in administration and management information processes. It excludes all use of IT for curriculum purposes as this is the responsibility of the Advisory Service.
