Hazard studies for the design of safe process plant are now well established, being applied in the process industries worldwide. The application of total quality management forces the question: what procedures can be put in place to reduce variability and to consistently perform a study which meets the customer′s requirements? The form of record and the features required of a computer‐aided recording system are discussed.
